Miss Sylvia Charlery
(Principal from 2010 to present)
A pleasant hello from the principal of the Patience Combined School, Ms Sylvia Charlery. It is with great pleasant that I welcome you to our school website and I do hope your visit is valuable and repeated.
I began my career in teaching in the year 1978 to 1991 at the Mon Repos Combined School. I later moved on to the Patience Combined School as a teacher in 1991 to 2008. In 2010, I officially became the school principal. As a community activist I was born and bred in the community of Patience. I attended the Mon Repos Combined School and then succeeded and moved to the Vieux-Fort Secondary. I further pursued studies at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College and also Mater Ecclesiae in Rome, Italy.
My thirty eight years of teaching experience was an asset in helping me develop and grow both professionally and personally. My journey as an educator has been one of devotion, joy, determination, hard work, patience, humility, challenges, love and compassion. I am eternally grateful that I have been given an opportunity to help mould young minds and learn from many individuals.
With the support of my teaching and ancillary staff, I will continue to strive to improve and enhance the teaching and learning environment. When students enter the walls of the Patience Combined School, I ensure that they are in a safe and conducive environment, one that will foster and nurture their many talents.
